The Sound of Music?

"Today we climbed a mountain"-my friend Mike in response to me not knowing how to start this post.
Crazy tomorrow it'll be a week that we've been on Paros, one of the Cyclades islands (pronounced: Kickladick by the locals). Our group is going on a planned all day hike tomorrow, exploring the rest of the island. I'm excited to see what the rest of island holds, and what's on the other side of the huge mountains I see everyday.
Speaking of those mountains, my friends and I tried climbing one today. After climbing on stone, dirt, various plants and avoiding prickly bushes as much as possible, we achieved some epic views that words cannot describe. Though we didn't quite make it to the top due to our little path (or what we made a path) ending, it was still a worthwhile journey (and a pretty great workout!)
And I swear showering after we got back never felt better.
After that we went to get cheeseburger and fries (which were wimpy in comparison to the greatness of In and Out, which I realize I have already mentioned recently in this blog..a testimony to how much I love it). And went to the grocery store to grab some fondue supplies for eating during tonight's Lord of the Rings marathon. Carleigh said earlier "I work out so I can eat what I want", and I couldn't agree more.

Our first take at making fondue was a fail because the chocolate started clumping (we decided instead of blaming ourselves, to blame the chocolate we bought). But after that we got the perfect creamy consistency we wanted, and the bananas, strawberries, and little graham cookies we bought tasted PERFECT dipped in the chocolate heaven. We got full pretty fast and didn't eat nearly as much as we predicted.

Last night was pretty fun too, I was feeling tired but my friends and I didn't want to be party poopers and decided to go out with the rest of the group. We went to a bar (kinda hidden. any directional sense I may have acquired before has been lost with all these windy streets that all look similar) owned by a british guy named Colin who was hilarious and very sweet. On Thursday nights the bar has what they call "trivia night" and we got into small groups and were given a piece of paper to write down answers to various trivia questions that were asked/shown/heard (there was a visual picture round and music round). And I had a blast! Our group did much better than expected (did you know the Scandinavian country that drinks the most coffee is Finland? Or that Jamaica's currency is the dollar? We put Jamaican dollars last minute and ended up getting it right!) And the hot chocolate there was amazing. We will definitely be returning.
Also random note, someone had told me before I left that so many people smoke here, and I'm realizing it to be true. The scent is EVERYWHERE and likes to linger on my clothes. Not a fan.

How the maid made my bed today!
Plaque over my kitchen,
such a great reminder from my friend Katie:)
