Today my Digital Imaging class (minus one student, making four of us including our teacher!) went on a little field trip to an old monastery at the TOP of a hill..literally..the incline we drove up in our teacher's way too small stick-shift car was completely ridiculous.
Also I should mention Greece does not believe in guard rails.
Once we reached the top I saw yet another view that left me breathless. Partially because of being completely surrounded by the rural landscape and neatly tucked in minuscule white houses below, and partly because the bitter cold wind made it hard breathe.
But we toughed it out, and got a few pretty good shots:

It was a process getting up |

So this is our teacher... |

On the way down
On another note, I've been going through a devotional called My Upmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. I realize it's pretty old, but the mini devotionals are just as relevant and tend to call me out daily. Anyway there was a devotion about surrender the other day that I really enjoyed, here's a few snippets: "Beware of surrender that is motivated by personal benefits that may result" "Genuine total surrender is a personal sovereign preference for Jesus Christ himself" "True surrender will go beyond natural devotion" "Our motive for surrender should not be for any personal gain at all" "Most of us have only a vision of what this really means, but have never truly experienced it" What better way to learn about surrender than being in a foreign place, totally out of my element. |
I am most drawn to your church bell photo. But love them all!
