On our last full day of our trip, we decided to take a ferry from Istanbul to the Prince's Islands, what used to be a luxurious retreat for the wealthy and princes way back when. We stopped at one (with a dust storm greeting in the street when we got there!) that has since turned into a cozy little town with beautiful streets lined with mansions and a few little food shops (we stopped and got the BEST ICE CREAM EVER. Seriously..a scoop of mint and nutella in a chocolate sprinkle dipped waffle cone!) and horses and carriages roaming along the streets. We rented bikes, and I handed over the camera to our teacher Cameron who was with us, so he could get some shots of us riding through the streets and along the coast. It felt so good to get some exercise (besides the obscene amount of walking we'd done) and explore the island some. We had a couple of encounters with horses (a few abandoned ones were stampeding behind our bikes but luckily we moved out of the way in time) that I thought it were pretty funny but there were a few in our group who were already scared of horses to begin with..
I'd have to say it was my favorite day during our little semester break.
As if the ice cream wasn't great enough, Chris Brown was on the T.V. |
